Having more than 30 years experience in the interior window shutters industry we have measured and installed a vast amount of plantation shutters. We install in virtually every possible room, window and door in houses, offices, commercial locations and hotels, apart from some unconventional places such as on radiators, wardrobes and cupboards.
The kitchen is certainly one of the most popular rooms amongst them since we tend to spend quite some time in it cooking, talking and cleaning, that is the reason why we always recommend shutters over any other window covering. Wooden shutters are much more versatile and flexible than blinds or curtains as you can have it in different styles and materials that would allow you to have only the top, bottom or both open at the same time while providing you with as much privacy required.
Another main reason for choosing plantation shutters for the kitchen windows is that they are very easy to maintain, not only in terms of how practical they are to open and close but how easy it is to get them clean. You can use an ostrich feather, lamb’s wool duster or even a static cling duster and then just swipe the surface with a damp cloth. Read our shutters after care instructions for more information.
What is the best shutter style for kitchen windows and doors? The answer is there is not a best shutter style as it will depend on the shape and size of your windows or doors as well as what exactly you want to achieve from them. For example, some customers want more privacy, while others are looking to maximise the amount of light in the room and many of them are also looking to add more style to their kitchen windows or doors. Whatever your reason is, wooden shutters are likely to be the best option.
Our most popular shutter styles are the full height style which covers the whole height of the window or door allowing you to open or fold the panels to either side, café style which cover only the bottom part of the window leaving the top part un-shuttered which is a great look, and finally the tier on tier style which also covers the whole height of the window but allows you to open and close either the top and bottom or left and right panels independently and individually.
We also have a wide range of shutter materials for you to choose from starting from our Craftwood MDF to our premium White Teak wood. Our range is designed to suit all budgets and the right choice for you will depend on a few options such as the type of the finish you are looking to get; that can be one of our 48 colour finishes or 20 stain finishes or even a custom colour you have that can be matched. You don’t need to worry about it initially because we will explain every little detail in depth to you when we come to measure your windows or doors.
