Peter Viggers the MP for Gosport has now added a set of bespoke shutters to his expenses claim for that now infamous Duck House.
I saw an article in one of the Hampshire papers written by Andy Tate.
"...duck house claiming Hampshire MP Peter Viggers spent hundreds of pounds of taxpayers' money on custom-made window shutters for his country house."
The Tory MP for Gosport, who is quitting Parliament at the next election, asked for the shutters for his box sash windows to be "constructed to [the] pattern of the originals". The bill, submitted to the Fees Office in March 2008, came to £669.75."
On the subject of government/MP's - whose idea was it to change the VAT from 17.5% to 15% and then back to 17.5%?
I can't tell you how long it has taken to amend accounts packages, change invoice stationery etc. and has it made any difference to the sale of shutters? If I was to be honest the answer would be none at all, all it has done is cost me more man hours in having to change the system twice.
The shutter market continues to grow as more people realise what a fantastic alternative to curtains and blinds they are and market awareness increases. Plantation Shutters, the first company in the UK to provide shutters, remains stable and is looking forward to continuing to service clients in 2010.
