Downturn Developments

In the week in which the Government has finally confirmed what we all already suspected, that Britain is in a recession, we wanted to touch base to let you know our aims for the coming months. Having been in the market since 1982, this is not the first recession that we have endured, however we certainly won’t be counting our chickens any time soon! Mindful of this and to keep our turnover rate at a decent level, we have put careful consideration into how best to keep ourselves going and have realised that the only option is to slash our margins, meaning that we are still generating income and keeping our staff busy.

What does this mean for you? Well, quite simply that you are able to get the fantastic quality that Plantation Shutters is renowned for at rock bottom prices. The unrivalled engineering of our shutters is highly sought after and the best currently available on the market. The price reductions therefore mean that our shutters are a good economic option to steer towards, without the worry of sacrificing quality along the way. These price reductions are available throughout all of our ranges from the top quality hardwoods, such as Basswood through to our MDF product. It means that, although people may be tightening their belts at the moment, acquiring plantation shutters can still be a viable and cost effective choice for those looking to improve their homes.

Another point we want to address, with so many household names going into liquidation, is what would happen if Plantation Shutters were to go the same way? Firstly, we would like to reassure our clients that this is not something that (fingers crossed) is likely to happen. We have been successfully trading for nearly 30 years, during which time we have gradually built up the business without recourse to external investment. Nor have we over-expanded ourselves by opening multiple retail outlets at great expense. The business has grown steadily by our clients returning to us for work and recommending us to their friends. We therefore believe that we stand in a strong position to weather the storm. However, in the event of something going wrong, Plantation Shutters is operated by Rob James as a sole trader, which therefore means that he is personally liable for all the debts of the company and does not have the luxury of being able to hide behind the limited liability status of a company director. Good news for you!

We hope this provides some reassurances for you. We shall of course continue to trade as normal and provide an excellent service for all our clients, with outstanding value for money! Plantation Shutters will persevere through the downturn and with luck head towards the sunnier economic climes that are surely ahead for us all. In turn, we wish good fortune to you too in the months to come.
