Creating the Best Guest Bedroom

Living in London can have so many perks but having that extra space that you get when you live outside the city is just not one of them. So, if you have that added luxury of a spare bedroom, we have put together a few ideas to create the perfect space for when you have guests coming to visit.

One of the most important things in a guest bedroom is for it to be inviting. You want to create a space that your guest is happy to be in. To create an inviting ambience, include a delightful scented candle or diffuser. You could also pick up some fresh flowers form your local supermarket to brighten up the room. Include a bedside table or an empty dresser for your guest to put their things in, so they don’t have to keep rummaging through their suitcase and they will feel more at home. On top of the dresser, you can also leave out some travel sized shampoo, conditioner and body soap for them along with a facecloth or maybe even a facemask to make them feel extra special.

It is also important to make the room comfortable for your guest to be. If the space allows, you could add a comfy chair or desk so your guest can have an alternative space to sit, relax and have some time to themselves if they wish rather only having the option to sit on the bed. Provide your guests with a big fluffy comforter as well as an extra blanket to keep them warm at night, because there is nothing worse than being cold at night and unable to get warm.

A great tip is to spend a night in the guest room to see what it is like. If it’s too bright in the morning, provide an eye mask or too loud maybe some earplugs. Spending a night in the guest room gives you the opportunity to know the level of comfort and how to improve if necessary. You can also provide your guests with some large fluffy towels for their shower. Make it a space you would love to be a guest in.

Some last-minute touches you can add to really create a wonderful guest bedroom is to provide a jug of water and a glass to save your guest having to find their way around a strange house in the dark. You can also offer them with your Wi-Fi password in a small frame on the side table, to save them from having to awkwardly ask you for it or unnecessarily use up their phone data. This will make them feel more at home and welcome.

If you know your guest well enough, you can also give them with a spare key so they don’t need to feel as though they have to rely on you and can venture out on their own if they so desire. Leave some of your city guide maps and magazines out for them to have a read of too, so they can plan their days out and find some different things to do that they didn’t know they could.

And of course, if you are wanting to add some love to your guest bedrooms windows, our shutters are a great solution. I love my new blinds. They are high quality, look beautiful and were at the most competitive price. The fitters were also very polite and efficient.

Plantation shutters visited my flat 20 January 2022 to measure, discuss slat size and material, and give me a free estimate which I was happy with.
