Our Visit to London Build 2017

Last week, we made a visit back to the vast halls of the Kensington Olympia for the 2017 Building Expo to see the latest innovations in the world of construction.

Now in its third year, the event is stronger than ever with over 270 exhibitors, even more guest speakers from all corners of the industry from health organisations to public travel firms. And with the construction world, especially those involved with Government schemes in the spot light at the moment, it made for some fascinating discussions about where the industry stands and where it’s moving towards.

We certainly took our time to go wondering around the entire hall to see the latest and brightest that the construction world has to offer and found ourselves fascinated by what we found with some of the emerging equipment and talent in the fields of architecture, design, construction and the technologies that tie them all together.

Speaking of these technological advances, we had to opportunity to check out the latest in construction orientated 3D Printing. As a field that excites all, let alone those in the construction field, when we heard that AI Build had a stall at the event, we had to go and see them. With most corners of 3D printing, while being incredible, is expensive and very slow. AI Build is making huge advancements in the progression away from this reputation with their work showing off intricate designs being printed in less time, with a wider variety of materials and less conventional designs. Having watched the progression of their work and now having seen for ourselves, we can only guess at the leaps and bounds that the technology will take in the coming years.

We also took a look at the amazing work of the world famous architecture firm Llewelyn Davies who have been a powerhouse of aviation and healthcare architecture for many years with completed projects for Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Teenage Cancer Centre and London Bridge Hospital as well as a plethora of international airports and residential projects throughout London and the world. With projects constantly ongoing, their work will always be one to marvel at for years to come.

Along with these two amazing companies we took time to talk with the amazing firms in the spotlight of technology of data management and the latest innovative products used to highlight the work of these incredible firms such as virtual reality programmes that illustrate a company’s work to their clients such as 3D rendering of spaces and how they are intended to be transformed into the desired final project. A great example of this was the BLK 360 that could be seen dotted around the event, designed by the talented firm, Leica Geosystems.

And there you have it our highlights from this years London Build 2017, we met some amazing people and had a great wonder around to see the latest and brightest that the construction world had to offer and can’t wait to go again next year.
