Reflecting on 2016

Reflecting on 2016

2016 has certainly flown by, with Christmas upon us this means New Year's Eve is just around the corner. Here at Plantation Shutters, we are taking a quick breather amongst the Christmas hustle and bustle and reflecting on the year gone by. We have had a busy year and continuing to grow. Here are some of our highlights from 2016.

Celebrating Chinese New Year is always an important date on our calendar. Plantation Shutters and China have a special relationship, as our manufacturer is based in China, for over the last decade we have annually travelled to visit our Chinese based shutter manufacturer.

Top interior magazine, English Home, featured us in their March Issue. The article highlighted how plantation shutters can enhance any style of home with a variety of functionality aspects, such as added privacy and their clean line aesthetics. The article explored how different aspects such as style, material, colour and finishes will best suit your lifestyle and design of your home. One of our sales advisors explained what you can expect and how you can profit from your shutters.

In June, we were fortunate enough to be featured in The Times, in an article by Eleanor Doughty discussing how shutters are the window dressings of choice currently. The article proceeds with Plantation Shutters founder, Rob James explaining why shutters are not simply another fad but the shutter market is continuing to go from strength to strength. Shutters have more than proved themselves to be a great investment.

A big challenge for our leader and founder, Rob was participating in the Team Margot Rowing Challenge, which saw Rob rowing in the Celtic Challenge. The challenge consisted of rowing 94 miles between Wales and Ireland over 24 hours. This was completed in memory of Margot Martini to raise funds and awareness for the Team Margot Foundation, which aims to help delete blood cancer.

Go, Rob and Team Margot!

As we are continuing to expand, earlier in the year we joined the brilliant House and Garden’s, 'The List', which is an extensive online directory full of industry-related professionals and companies. The List is self-described, ‘an indispensable guide for anybody wanting work done to their home.’

Openings Magazine Summer Edition by the British Blind & Shutter Association (BBSA) featured a piece on our company. The BBSA is the only national trade association for companies manufacturing, supplying and installing blinds and shutters. They are also involved with guaranteeing high-quality products, service and fair trade within the industry.

The article further describes our high-quality standards in both services and products, which can be tailored to suit all budgets. Being part of the BBSA is a great way to keep up to date with innovation and news within the industry.
