Plantation Shutters Highlights 2017

A Reflection on 2017

2017 has gone by very fast for some and probably not quickly enough for others and with Christmas and New Year’s celebrations also gone, let’s have a look back on what has been an unforgettable year for us here at Plantation Shutters.

We’re always looking to grow as a company and have certainly done just that with the offerings to our clients as well as a family ourselves. We’ve had new members join the team in our office and more highly experienced fitters than ever before meaning that we’ve been able to fit more and more shutters for our clients than ever before.

Speaking of our team and their amazing success, we’ve been on the most incredible journeys, as a squad, to bring them closer together as a formidable unit ready to be the best that they can possibly be. Our boys went on a four-day long ski trip to the Alps and were put through their paces, competitive natures being put to the test. And the girls enjoyed a lovely day out to watch the men’s final of Wimbledon with a luscious hamper of treats to enjoy.

A few of us have been to the biggest and best festivals that our fair city has to offer to see and applaud what’s new in the world of interior design. We kicked off the year with a trip around London for the London Design Week to see some of the most exciting designs that were sure to make constant appearances throughout the rest of the year.

We went along to the Ideal Home Show to check out the latest trends in interior design and see some incredible new architectural innovations such as the revolving created by George Clarke and William Hardie from Channel 4’s ‘Amazing Spaces’. The House and Garden Festival was filled to the brim with interior design juggernauts showing off their talents in constructed showrooms that we gawked at for a day.

Clerkenwell Design Week was a great day out to see why London’s design scene is at the best it’s ever been. The London Design Festival was a fantastic opportunity for us to see what design trends are out there on a global scale and to hear from professionals within the industry as to their process in work, hopeful to gain some knowledge ourselves.

And to top off the year we took part in one of the most incredible interior design events in the London calendar. Turner Pocock have been friends of ours as interior designers for many years and we have worked together on numerous projects to bring their illustrious plans to life. The world-renowned charity event ‘Holiday House’ made the trip from New York city across the pond to London’s streets this year for the first year ever to help collect donations to go towards the worthy charity cause, Breast Cancer Research UK. Each room inside two stunning Maida Vale mansions was handed over to an interior designer and they were charged with begging and borrowing items to make up whichever creation they pleased. And we were lucky enough to be asked for a donation to the cause. The result was incredible and were very proud to take a part in the fantastic event. We can’t wait to hear how much has been raised!

On top of our success this year we have been added, for yet another consecutive year, to House and Garden’s exclusive set list of go-to suppliers of today. ‘The List’ is an extensive directory full of leading industry related professionals highlighted as “an indispensable guide for anybody wanting work done in their home.”

Alongside the ensemble of interior design firms that we’ve had the joy of working with, we’ve also worked with some of today’s key influencers of the interior design and home décor scene. With blog posts from Steph at Renovation Bay-bee and Carole at Dear Design our good name has been happily bouncing about the internet which has had a huge impact for us.

Our home has had a makeover with our stunning, brand new showroom that has had a huge amount of grit and brawn go into it from our very own fitters. They have worked tirelessly to make it the incredible arena it is today so that our lovely sales team can show you around and help you decide on whichever shape and design of shutters your heart desires. And with an especially orchestrated grand opening, we will be unveiling it to the world in the manor it deserves.

So, there you have it, 2017, it’s been one of the best years in our history and with plenty of changes for the better, 2018 is set to be even more spectacular. Thank you from all of us here at Plantation Shutters for spending it with us and we hope you’ll be along for the ride in 2018 too.

Happy New Year!
