Talent nurtured during furlough

We have a diverse team here at Plantation Shutters made up of individuals with varying interests and personalities working together as one unit. These differences make for a distinct and interesting work environment and allows us to cater for a range of clientele.

A skeleton staff currently remains in place, working hard from a social distance in the office to ensure that business carries on and customers can still access all of our services. However, as uncertain times faced by all quieten industries nationwide, some of our valued team members are currently furloughed under the new government scheme.

During such circumstances, these team members have found themselves with an abundance of time in the home and it is heart-warming to see positive actions emerging from various talents being enhanced and practiced. One of our representatives, India, has been making the most out of this additional time to practice her already extraordinary artistic skills.

India is one of the hardworking and friendly faces of our sales team, who in her spare time is also a talented artist. With a background of study in Florence, India harbours quite an exceptional skill for portrait work in particular.

All furloughed staff check in weekly to receive updates on how business is going which allows them to keep those still in the office up to date on their time at home. It’s great to receive India’s updates on the fantastic pieces that she is producing, and it truly puts a smile on everyone’s face. Whilst we can’t wait to see her back in the office, it’s wonderful to see something so artistic and positive is being produced in the meantime.

With her permission, we share one of these masterpieces with our customers to demonstrate the positivity that can come from what is a difficult time for all.

This Charcoal drawing features India’s housemate who has been quite an inspiration to her whilst the two are homebound together. Titled “Quarantine Mood”, the piece encapsulates a feeling of frustration and longing for a returned freedom, embodied in beauty and the soft touch of India’s careful perception which speaks through her work.

You can follow India’s art page on Instagram at @indiahutchisonart to see more of her exceptional creations.
