Window shutters have always been a great space saver and in this recent fitting we did in the beautiful Barnes area we had the perfect solution for a client with a tiny little bay window that needed the right window dressing option.
Barnes is an area of gorgeous little homes with an appearance reminiscent of the homes with balconies seen all over New Orleans and with a stunning view down the river Thames and the areas of green land on the other side, home to the Chiswick Rugby club. The area is always packed with intimate bars and restaurants that makes it all the more charming a place to live.
As you can see from the picture above, our client for this project had very little option for this window other than window shutters. With the short height and the kitchen counter that runs along the bottom of this bay window.
There is also a large amount of natural light that floods the room that can be both a benefit and a troublesome attribute for the room. With this being a window in the kitchen, having curtains would hold the risk of getting them dirty and having to clean them constantly and at an expensive price. So the client believed our services were much needed.
The client told us that they wanted to have a window dressing for the window that would both provide some cover from the mass of natural light but didn’t want to completely stop it in its tracks. So with that, when our expert surveyor went to visit them, he said that Café Style was the best shutters style to choose with the flexibility that comes with it.
Due to the size of the window and the framing, the panels themselves had to be quite small, and with that the choice of slat size was quite limited as the classic size and above would have made up most of the frame giving it too minimal a look. So our surveyor suggested the Alternative slat size of 47mm that maintained the classic appearance that a lot of our customers look for in their shutters.
As the slat size is quite small, sometimes the Louvres can be quite delicate, so with that we suggested a tilt rod mechanism to be added to the panels to lower the risk of any possible damage coming to the Louvres.
With the selections of shutter style and louvre size being chosen, next came the material of the wood product. The client chose Hardwood as they are made with solid wood louvres combined with MDF fixing frames and are a very popular option for sash and bay windows. So this was the perfect option. And with that choice the client had a great wood product that, like all the materials in our range, is resistant to chipping, warping, fading and cracking so made it a great durable product for the home.
And next came the choice of colour, with the walls of this kitchen being white, it made sense for the client to choose a white option for their shutters so they opted for the very popular Pure White which works very well with the colour of the walls as well as the warm wooden fittings around the kitchen giving the room not too much of a conformed look but still welcoming and comforting. And with the Pure White the client chose White fittings for it as well.
And with that our client had an outstanding set of window shutters for their home that will last, looks great and will help them with the natural light that floods the room.
