The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is back!

Britain’s largest and most prestigious flower show, The Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower show, is back after a year off with displays of plant life bigger and better than ever! We’re so excited to once again explore the Royal Hospital grounds with this years attendees having the pleasure of seeing historic autumnal displays for the first time ever.

The show opens to the public today and runs through until Sunday. Over the next 6 days, a collection of the world’s best garden designers, horticulturalists and trade representatives will come together to showcase all thing’s new and beautiful and impress with a collection of displays and events. Exhibitions are split into 4 sections, each focusing on different areas of the global climate crisis to give a view on how this critical topic affects the natural world.

RHS is the UK’s leading gardening charity and aims to enrich lives through plants, making the UK a greener and more beautiful place. Every year since 1913, they wow visitors from across the globe with the Chelsea Flower show, this year sponsored by M&G, which sets president for all plant trends for the upcoming year.

Last year the show was sadly cancelled due to the global pandemic, the only year outside of world war periods that it has not taken place. With limitations still in place during May this year when the show has annually taken place, organisers decided to push the displays back to September for a first time-ever Autumn display.

It is an exciting change for frequent flower show visitors who will this year bask in stunning autumnal colours, trees full of fruit and berries, autumn bulbs, vegetable displays and grasses and seed-heads before the show returns to springtime slot next year.

Exhibits, displays and new plants revealed by specialist nurseries trickle down into upcoming garden, interior and fashion trends for upcoming lines so an abundance of talent will be in attendance scouting out the new ‘what’s hot’.

Here’s some of the highlights we can all expect to enjoy this year;

  • Garden designers from across the globe exhibiting new trends for autumnal plants.
  • Trade stands housing new lines from some of the finest fashion and design brands.
  • Tailored workshops centred around ‘plants as products’ with demonstrations on how plants can be used to create products which can be recreated at home.
  • House plant studios where stylists have dressed up allocated studios representing a room in the home showing how the increasingly popular use of house plants can be featured to add a touch of green throughout the home.
  • Show gardens showing the cutting edge of garden designs.
  • Italianate market in the Great Pavilion filled with olive trees, cypress and terracotta pots to transform you into a Mediterranean paradise which the spring show could not usually accommodate.
  • The return of the exclusive Charity Gala.
  • Dining opportunities across the event with private party bookings available.
  • Picnic and seating areas to relax between various areas.
  • An evening of music, food, drinks, talks and demonstrations at the Chelsea late.

This years show will also coincide with the Chelsea History Festival so visitors can take a step back in time with talks from the Chelsea Pensioners at a selection of three major heritage sites across Chelsea whilst in the area.
