A small dose of understanding what is available in your shutter design every day as we edge towards Christmas.
- Day 1 – Full Height -
For day 1 of the advent, we look at one of our most popular shutter styles, Full Height Shutters.
What are Full Height Shutters?
As the name suggests, full height shutters extend the entire height of the window area which they are installed. This style of shutter is our most popular because full coverage of a window ensures the best level of light control, privacy, and insulation for the room.
What are the main features of Full Height Shutters?
There are three types of full height shutter styles to choose from. Full height with a divider rail, full height with a hidden break and full height without a divider rail.
Full height with a divider rail
Divider rails sit horizontally within shutter panels and split the slats into two or more sections to be operated. The rail is often placed either halfway up the panel or to match a natural divide in the window.
Full height with a hidden break
A hidden break also splits the slats into two or more sections, but the divide is hidden within the internal shutter mechanism rather than having a solid rail to visualise this split. This is a popular choice for those who are looking for a simplistic design but want extra versatility of slat control.
Full height without a divider rail
Finally, full height shutters without a divider rail have a single slat operation section extending the height of the panel. This style is ideal for smaller windows.
What are the benefits of Full Height Shutters?
One of the main benefits of full height shutters is that having full shutter coverage in a window means that the greatest amount of privacy and light blockage can be achieved.
Limited tolerance gaps mean that achieving darkness in a space is its most effective and make the insulating qualities of the shutters more successful when panels are closed. Privacy control is also most efficient because slats can be manoeuvred on the window in its entirety.
Full height shutters can provide one of the most simplistic design options so you will have a choice of whether to go down a contemporary design route using large uninterrupted panels or to embrace classic shutter design with smaller slat sizes and features such as tilt rods. Whatever your taste in shutter finishes, full height shutters will almost always accommodate what you are looking for.
