For day 7 we explore the most popular type of colour finish on shutters – painted shutters.
When shutters first gained traction as a wonderful window dressing, stained finishes were the most common choice with limited paint options available. However, in their contemporary popularity, a painted finish is almost always chosen.
The preference of painted shutters is largely thanks to the smooth look and texture on offer as well as providing the choice to either match windows and surrounds or to incorporate other colour schemes within the room.
When dreaming up their perfect shutters, our clients will often have a good idea of whether they would prefer to go for a white option, a neutral colour such as grey, or bolder choices such as custom colours. The great news is that we have 23 different paint finish options as part of our standard range so there’s plenty of choice.
Are there any limitations on paint finishes on shutters?
Certain materials have a reduced availability of paint finishes which may need to be considered where colour is an important feature on the shutters. For the largest paint choice selection, it is a good idea to opt for our Hardwood, Pearlwood or Ultra wood materials.
Waterproof also has almost all paint finishes available (22/23), however unfortunately due to the material specifications Classic Black is not available.
MDF has the most limited range of colours as our entry level with 9 colours to choose from. The majority of these 9 paints are white so those looking to match the windows or surrounds will still have a good selection.
If you are looking to install Aluminium security shutters to your home then the colour variety will be slightly different as security shutters are powder coated. Specialised tones of Prime White, Satin White, Light Grey and Charcoal are on offer for this material.
Is there a way for my shutters to be painted in any colour I want?
Yes, we offer a custom colour matching service of any colour in our Hardwood, Pearlwood, Ultra and Waterproof materials. An electronic laser eye is used to match your colour choice either from our vast library of popular choices or using a swatch of the paint colour.
