Only an hour north from us here at Plantation Shutters in Battersea in the scenic Hertfordshire is the luxurious country hotel Sopwell House. We have fitted many shutters in this hotel over the last couple of years in their spa treatment room, hotel suites bar and outdoor areas.
Sopwell House is a 4-start Georgian home away from home amongst 12 acres of countryside in St Albans. This family-owned luxury hotel takes rest, relaxation and warm hospitality seriously. With 128 rooms including 16 individually designed Mews Suites, a 2 AA Rosette Restaurants, Brasserie, Bar and Cocktail Lounge along with 15 event spaces perfect for meetings, conferences and weddings and UK’s first private members spa.
The first lot of our shutters were fitted in the Bistro on the doors and large windows looking out to the private courtyard. The full height shutters that were chosen was our premium material of White Teak. This has since been upgraded to our Ultra material. This is the perfect spot to sit and enjoy your meal while taking in the beautiful green surroundings. they then chose 89mm slat size which is one of our most stylish Modern looks. The larger louvre size offers a minimalistic fresh finish allowing for the maximum amount of light to shine into the restaurant during the day while still offering a private dining experience for their guests. They then chose the rustic grey stain to match the colour scheme of the interiors with antique brass hinges. The overall look of the restaurant was all tied together with the shutters and enhanced the luxurious feel to it. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a delicious meal while on holiday or even just a weekend getaway.
They were getting so many compliments from their first set of shutters that they then decided to fit them into a few of the suites as well as some spa treatment rooms to really enhance the luxurious relaxation of the place. They found the shutters offered the perfect amount of privacy to each room while still letting in the right amount of light keeping the space lit wonderfully during the day. Another bonus they found to having shutters is that they are very low maintenance and easy to clean. Which is a huge bonus for a busy hotel. The less you have to clean the more you get to put into contributing to making the guests stay more than perfect. They chose full height Permawood for these shutters in silk white with stainless steel hinges. This was so they matched the surrounding walls without standing out too much, taking the focus away from the rest of the room.
