For one of our latest instalments, we headed down to Cobham, on the outskirts of South West London, for one of the biggest homes we have ever worked on. A stunning modern house was in need of kitting out and we had just the thing for them.
With over sixteen rooms there was a multitude of spaces within this amazing home that we fitted our shutters in, but the room that stood out way above the rest was the sitting room shown above. We loved the sleek design with the orange cabinets facing off against the cool grey of the room. And as you can see from above, the window that looks onto the space is massive and the room’s main source of natural light.
So when one of our surveyors initially went out to meet the client they said that they needed to choose a style of window shutter that could give them necessary access to light but also be able to completely shut it out if they wanted to. So with that we suggested Full Height as the panels would run from floor to ceiling and can be operated with ease to give them that blast of sunlight if they wanted it. Other styles would have either overcomplicated the large space with too many panels or only covered half of that huge window frame.
And in that style the client opted for Craftwood MDF as the material for their shutters which is the most cost-effective material that we offer in our range. The panels are heavier than our other options as this material is made up of a denser material. It is an affordable, first-class, innovatively manufactured product with a durable and smooth finish. All our range is resistant to chipping, cracking, fading and warping. This range is covered in an extruded polypropylene coating, offering similar levels of quality as most other shutter materials.
With the clients desire for control, they opted for a traditional central tilt rod to give them ease of use of the shutters as well as adding the look and feel they were looking for.
As the window frame itself is very large the client chose a large louvre size as not to overpopulate the panel with slats that would have given the shutters an appearance that they wouldn’t have wanted. And the 89mm slat size, also know as the ‘Modern’ slat size in our lifestyle range, was the best option for a modern home like this one with its minimal look.
When one of our most experienced surveyors met with the client they suggested a neutral colour that would blend in well with the loud colour of the room, they agreed on Silk White as it didn’t deflect attention from the rest of the living room.
Alongside the Silk White colour option, our client decided to opt for the Nickel-plated fitting for each of the panels in this home and it added a clean finish to each room they were installed in.
And the client decided to keep to the same style throughout the entire house and every single room, from this living room to the children’s playroom, and they all look stunning.
