Sat just to the North of us here at Plantation Shutters is the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, one of London’s most exclusive locations, home to Stamford Bridge and Craven Cottage stadiums, stretches of shopping hotspots like Fulham Broadway, Westfield London, beautiful family gathering spots like Parson’s Green and Eel Brook Common and the hub of British entertainment, the Hammersmith Apollo. All this alongside the countless interior designers who’ve set up their operations throughout the borough, ready to put their stamp on the many stunning properties that can be found in the area. Properties that we’ve frequently visited ourselves.
When you live in an area surrounded by the greats of interior design and architecture, you want your home to reflect that. So, we typically find that the clients we’ve worked within the area are always on the lookout for statement designs when it comes to their made to measure interior window shutters. With our extensive selection of styles, colours, materials and additional extras to choose from, we have the means to cater to almost any stylistic whim to make your design choices truly your own.
In the sixties, Hammersmith and Fulham were combined to make one borough as they each used to be separate boroughs of London. Just like Wandsworth, our home went through huge industrial and urban changes in the 19th century with new inventions transforming the manufacturing industry as well as the way we live in our own homes that brought international interest that helped transform, not just the borough itself, but the entire city.
With two Premier League clubs, a Championship side, an internationally acclaimed tennis club and a private club that boasts the homer of the world-governing body of Polo, Fulham has a plethora of sporting venues and opportunities for budding sportsmen and women throughout the borough. Plus, extensive shopping and members-only clubs such as Ivy Chelsea for all other wants and needs, there’s a huge amount that the area offers its residents.
Just as fascinating as the stunning venues and homes are the people that occupy them, or at least used to. These include well-known musicians, actors, sportsmen and women such as actors Hugh Grant, Benedict Cumberbatch, rock legend Roger Daltrey, athlete and politician, Sebastian Coe and half of the Made in Chelsea cast (ironic). Along with these famed residents, the area has some fascinating history; The Dove pub is well known as the smallest in England. Two roads, Linver Road and Alderville Road in the area were the trendsetters when it comes to driver pet peeves as they were the first in the country to have speed bumps put in.
It really is such a special area of London that we love to continuously work in. If you drop in on our News page or have a look at the links above, you can have a look at just a couple of examples of the stunning work we’ve done throughout the area throughout the 35 years that we’ve had the pleasure working in this wonderful city. Have a look at a few examples of this in our shutter gallery.
