Door shutters FAQ
I want sliding partition shutters instead of doors, can I do this – how does it work?
Yes, you can have sliding bi-fold shutters instead of doors by using a track system. This track system allows shutters to move along wide spaces in a structurally sound way. To get a price for shutters on a track system you can call the team on 020 8871 9222 to discuss.
I want shutters over my doors but don’t want to block out the door handle – how do I do this?
To fit shutters over a door where you do not want to obstruct the door handle or replace it with a smaller handle. We can make the shutters with what we call a ‘cut out’ where the shutter is made in a shape to accommodate this handle. Our experts will be able to run through this option with you either at a virtual or home measure appointment where we can see the door and discuss the logistics of fitting some stunning new shutters to it.
What is the best material to use for shutters for over doors?
As with our shaped shutters, the best materials for shutters for or over doors would be our Pearlwood or Ultra wood shutters due to their light nature and their allowance for shape availability. Many of our customers love Ultra wood for door alternative or doorway shutters as the large framing particularly suits the panel sizes required for this space. Don’t forget you can also look into our solid shutters for doorways. To get a quote simply call the team on 020 8871 9222.
Benefits of shutters for doors
In general, plantation shutters are very beneficial for your house in many ways: they are very stylish and elegant, help you control the intensity of light that gets in the room, keep the room warm for longer and are also likely to add value to the property.
We have also received feedback from our customers who have had door shutters installed, and they feel safer due to the added privacy that the door shutters provide. Track systems are a very popular option for door shutters as they are very practical and are easy to use.
There are two styles of track systems, bi-pass and bi-fold. The first one allows you to fold the panels back to either or both sides. The second style allows you to slide the panels behind another to either or both sides. At Plantation Shutters, we offer a wide variety of shutter materials and depending on your selection you can also have more than 50 colour options as well as a custom colour matching option.
