Located mostly in the London Borough of Lambeth with parts of the area extending into the neighbouring Borough of Wandsworth you will find the residential area of Clapham.

When most Londoners think of Clapham stereotypes, there are two distinct groups that immediately come to mind: Australians/New Zealanders, and City Boys. However, due to its size and proximity to very multi-cultural areas such as Brixton, you can find almost every kind of person here. While the Australians and young professionals dominate the High Street on a Saturday night, come Sunday morning the cafes and the Common are full of families and students enjoying brunch from one of the many local restaurants. Old Town and Clapham South are known as the pricier areas, are generally where the families settle while Clapham North and Clapham Junction have more of a student vibe, with lots of flat shares many nearby bars.

When you live in an area that is largely populated, you want your home to have some privacy from your nosy neighbours. So, we typically find that the clients we’ve worked with in the area are always on the lookout for statement designs with added privacy when it comes to their made to measure interior window shutters. With our extensive selection of styles, colours, materials and additional extras to choose from, we have the means to cater to almost any stylistic whim to make your design choices truly your own.

There are plenty of great bars and restaurants, lively nightlife and excellent transport links into central London. There is also plenty of wide-open spaces such as Clapham Common, Wandsworth Common and Tooting Bec Common. There is defiantly something for everyone in Clapham. Wherever you live in the Clapham area, you are always a short stroll away from another iconic and beautiful area of London.

With records going back over 1000 years, Clapham certainly has had a long and interesting history. It grew from a small village in the rural Surrey to become an upper-class area in the 18th and 19th centuries. During this time many social reformers moved to the area, William Wilberforce being one of them. The arrival of the railway transformed the Clapham Demographic, as the upper class moved out it became a commuter suburb for the working class from around the early 1900’s. in the 1980s, due to its location across the river to Knightsbridge and Chelsea, the middle class started to migrate south, and now Clapham is known for being a affluent and middle class. However, neighbouring areas like Brixton and Stockwell keep the area multicultural and diverse. Other famous faces that have live in Clapham are Australian actress Margot Robbie, Comedian Jo Brand, T.V Presenter Holly Willoughby, Author JK Rowling, and T.V Presenter Piers Morgan

If you look to our news page, you’ll be able to see endless examples of how we’ve helped many people throughout the Clapham area as well as far beyond the borough with their windows. Have a look at a few examples of this in our shutter gallery.
