A large amount of the work that we do here at Plantation Shutters takes us far beyond the boroughs of London, and this recent fitting is just one of those occasions that got our fitters to hit the road, deliver and install a stunning set of interior window shutters.
This time around we headed along the southern coast to the stunning county of Hampshire, just on the other side of New Forest National Park and to a ground floor flat in a busy new development of flats with a privacy problem that caused some security concern for one resident in the Lymington area.
Our client told us about how their flat was on the ground floor of their building and there were a series of windows that look directly onto the street and so people on the street could look in on their home so they were in serious need of a solution. We knew that we had the best one for them.
One of our expert surveyors made his way from London to our client’s home to help them decide on what the best options were for them. There are a lot of decisions to make and we work together with our clients so that they can make their shutters order as personal to them as possible whether that’s in colour, style and configuration.
As you can see from the picture, these windows together take up a huge amount of space for this room and are a massive source of light for the room as they reach from the floor to the ceiling so our surveyor very quickly suggested Full Height as a shutters style. This is because they would cover the entire frame of the window giving our client optimal privacy while still having flexibility with their access to natural light.
And when the client agreed our surveyor then talked through what material our client would like their shutters to come in. As the window space is very large and would demand a series of panels to complete it the client was looking for a cost-effective option but didn’t want to compromise on the integrity of the design as an MDF option is sometimes seen as too heavy to our clients. With that our client went for a compromise between our premium wood options and the heavier MDF option with the Hardwood option which has solid wood louvres with an MDF frame. The heavy frame provides support for the pleasantly lighter slats which a lot of our clients love and was the perfect option for this space. And with a mid-rail, the appearance of the windows is broken up which most of our clients opt for when it comes to installing shutters on large window spaces.
And with those slats being made of pure wood, they had to have the right look, so our client chose the very fashionable In Vogue slat size of 76mm which is perfect for this living room as with large amounts of space to fill with our shutters. Clients don’t like to over occupy the space with too many louvres that would happen with the Classic size of 64mm, as the window begins to look like a grill with a series of individual lines of light seeping through the gaps between the slats and our clients wanted a broader amount of light to come through. Yet if the client had chosen a slat size too big, such as the Modern size of 89mm or higher, then the room tends to flood with too much light, depending on where the window is in respect to the sun. So with a window like this, the In Vogue size is just what our client needed. And with a tilt rod, the client saved even more money on the design of the panels and helped the design of the panels not look to minimal which clients like to have with large window spaces.
With all these decisions made, our client now had to decide on the colour options they wanted to go for. With the décor of the room being mostly white other than pieces of furniture, the client wanted the colour to conform to the room rather than be ostentatious so they decided on Pure White and it still looks stunning. And with the Pure White fittings and a beaded stile, it looks amazing.
Once the client had fully decided on these specifications, they opted for our air freight express delivery so that they could have they’re made to measure interior shutters delivered to them and fitted as soon as possible. So with that, in half the usual time of a typical order, the client’s shutters arrived at our Battersea offices and we sent our highly-skilled, in-house fitting team on a little road trip to especially installing this stunning set of interior window shutters.
