South East London is the destination for our news story this week with a huge living room window that was an overbearing issue for a client and in need of love and attention from our team. They knew just how to help.

In the heart of Lewisham is where the home of these stunning shutters are, just a short distance from Bromley. We’ve fitted many shutters here over the years. As a big residential area, we’ve mainly worked alongside families who need a window dressing option to prevent nosey onlookers or to have the perfect lighting in their home.

Making up a huge amount of the space in this wonderfully decorated living room, the window is the rooms main source of light and quite a large one at that. These clients were looking to update their windows to suit a modern look for their living room feeling that the curtains they previously had taken up too much space and were a bit of an eyesore too.

As the window looks out onto their close-knit residential street, they were hoping an option to optimise their privacy. So, for total control and heightened privacy, our expert surveyor suggested the Full Height shutters style to them as the entire frame would be covered and even with the slats open ajar, they’d have access to some warm natural light while still maintaining their privacy, as you can see from the picture.

With that access to natural light, the client opted for the stylish In Vogue slat size and a mid-rail to break up the appearance of the panels while adding extra support for the frames which is advised with larger frames as they can weigh down. It’s also a great option to add a little extra flexibility as the slats can be opened and closed independent of each half of the frame, very much like our Tier on Tier shutter style.

This is especially the case when it comes to our entry-level shutter material of MDF which while being a great money-saving option, is made up of denser material than the other shutter materials we have on offer. But like all the materials we offer they are resistant to chipping, warping, fading and cracking. This makes our interior window shutters an incredibly durable option. Having a Plain Stile too adds to the smooth modern look that our client was going for.

It made sense for the client to go for Pure White as their colour choice for the panels with the decor of the room being as bright as it is and with the White hinges too, it really lets the design of the shutters sync in with the rest of the space.

And that was that. The client locked in their personal designs and we sent them off to our manufacturers, who got to work. A short time later, their made to measure shutters arrived at our home in Battersea and our team of in-house fitters made their way down to the client’s home and had them installed in no time. We were so glad to see how happy the clients were with the result.

What do you think of these designs? Would you have gone for Full Height? Or a more outlandish colour? Share this around with your friends and have a chat about it.
