Across all of our work in the London area, we work alongside some spectacular names in interior design and we recently had the pleasure of heading up to Shepherd’s Bush to install a set of window shutters in a bedroom as part of a project with the talented people at Turner Pocock. And with arched windows as our fresh new challenge, we welcomed the opportunity.

Their client’s home is very near the iconic O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, a venue that has played host to some of the most iconic names in music such as David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Muse, Pearl Jam, The Rolling Stones and many more. Unfortunately, we weren’t in the area for that kind of gig.

As you can see from the picture above, the windows that Turner Pocock’s client wanted to be decorated were arched and to decorate stylishly and functionally, window shutters were the only option.

So after a quick chat with the girls in our office, a surveyor went out to meet a member of the Turner Pocock team and discussed their needs for this regal bedroom. When it comes to arched windows, the only option of shutter style is full height as every other style is impractical due to the shape of the window and the inevitable difficulty that would come with manoeuvring them. So with this suggestion from our experienced surveyor, this is what our client chose.

We understand at Plantation Shutters that everyone has different budgets to play with when it comes to their shutters and that’s why we have the Craftwood MDF option available to our clients. It’s still a very durable product that doesn’t chip, crack, fade or warp, just as none of the other materials in our range do. The main difference is the varied materials that make up the panel and frame, it is slightly heavier than the other materials we have in our range, With this case, Turner Pocock wanted to help their client as best they could with their stunning designs throughout this home.

With the colour scheme of the room being as light as it is, a neutral colour option was the best decision their client could have made and they wanted the shutters to conform to the scheme so they chose Pure White, possibly our most popular colour choice. and it blended in effortlessly with the yellows and greys of the room.

As the height of the windows is quite small, their client opted for the Modern Louvre size of 89mm and hidden tilt rod as the larger slat size and a smooth surface worked well with the room’s minimalist décor. As well as the fact that a smaller slat size could have overpopulated the panels and as a shallow arched window, overpopulation of the panels could well have ended with the shutter panels blocking out a large amount of light, even when they are open. So this was the best option for their client.

This project was an absolute dream, working alongside Turner Pocock who held endless professionalism and, from what we saw become of the home once all was finished, know exactly what they’re talking about.
