At the centre of our ethos, here at Plantation Shutters Ltd, are our customers. They invite us into their homes to make a glowing difference to their interiors…

For this latest installation, we had the chance to sit with one of our wonderful clients and have chat about her and her husband’s beautiful home just off Clapham Common that she was, quite rightly, keen to show off.

The duo moved into this beautifully terraced property in 2015 and have since then transformed it into their interior inspiration, combining modern looks with eclectic touches. We fitted our shutters in a cross-section of rooms including two bathroom windows, a living room and a bedroom.

Question 1: Describe your interior style?

I wouldn’t say we have a fixed style, however, our overall aim is for the rooms in the house to be comfortable, welcoming and relaxed. I prefer a neutral, calm colour palate however I love to accessorise with trinkets collected over the years from various places we’ve visited, different fabrics, baskets, cushions, throws and rugs. I also love house plants, flowers and candles to add the finishing touches to the room.

Question 2: What motivated you to choose shutters within your home?

We are living in a terraced house and we choose shutters as they encourage maximum light into the rooms but still maintain privacy. They are easy to clean and long-lasting and overall, they look really great!

Question 3: Your property is beautiful, tell us what differentiates your property from others in this area of London?

We renovated our house in 2016 and therefore it is very much to our style. We added a glass side return to replace a rotten roof in the kitchen and large bifold doors, so the kitchen flows really well into the garden, which feels like one large space, especially in summer. Upstairs, we painted and re-carpeted and added shutters to the bathroom and bedroom.

Question 4: What’s the best thing about living where you do?

We love living in Battersea, south-west London.  It is in zone 2 and really close to central London but has a ‘village’ feel.  We are located between Wandsworth Common and Clapham common so there is an abundance of green space nearby, which is great for exercising. We often walk to Battersea park and along the adjacent river, one of our favourite London walks. We are close to all the amenities of the Northcote Road which is full of independent shops, restaurants and cafes. We love wandering there after work and at weekends. Bellevue village is also really close to us too which is full of great restaurants and boutique shops. It really is a lovely place to live.

Question 5: What difference (s) have you noticed in your home since shutters have been installed?

The shutters have made a real difference to the house.  When we bought our house, there were old curtains hanging which looked tired and dated. The shutters provide a much more modern feel and look good from the inside and outside. They are great for keeping the room cool during the summer and keeping out drafts from the old Victorian windows in winter.

We’re always more than delighted to hear that a customer of ours is happy with our services and how our shutters have made a difference to them and their home. You can find many more loving testimonials, just like this one, over on our Customer Reviews page.
