To the East of us is one of our most extravagant projects to date with this stunning family home in East Richmond with an assortment of windows that we fitted with our shutters in a plethora of different styles. Each perfectly suited to the needs of our client and the result is quite perfect.

The interior of this period home has been designed with a contemporary feel so a stylish yet traditional choice for the windows felt imperative. With a pair of bathrooms, a bedroom, a set of stairs and an especially designed bar in their basement, it was clear that the client was after window dressing options in different styles to suit each room’s need.

For the guest bathroom, they wished for ultimate control over the natural light pouring in from the street, so they opted for the Tier on Tier style. This allows each of the panels to work independently of each other allowing for total privacy or a good dose of natural light. They went for the same style for the bedroom as well.

Whereas with the master bathroom, the client themselves wanted constant natural light along with ensured privacy, so the obvious choice was Café Style which keeps the lower half of the frame covered. This allows for a wonderful constant natural glow from outside the house, whether that warm sunlight or the calm night’s sky as the sun sets on the parkland near their home.

When it came to the bar and the stairs, the style the client went for was meant primarily as a means for complete privacy and sunlight if wanted. So, they went for Full Height, one of our most popular shutter styles as it covers the entire frame of the window and, when shut, is great at blocking the light for an atmospheric feel to space. In a room like a basement bar, a desire for a little escapism goes a long way.

All these different styles that the client picked for each room does an incredible job of highlighting the mass diversity in our products range. But, with that, our clients always love a utilitarian look in the end. So, they opted for the same fantastic partial wood shutter material of Hardwood throughout the home. With its wooden slats and an MDF fixing frame that allows for a pure wood feel to them which our clients love.

The slat sizes did change for two areas where the client preferred a modern aesthetic. The bedroom and bathrooms had the Classic sizes for a traditional look whereas the stairs and basement bar had the fashionable In Vogue sizes which are larger.

For their colour choice, they went for the pristine Silk White along with Nickel Plated hinges to slightly break up the appearance of the frames while maintaining that regal style which looks stunning. Without tilt rods as well, the frames don’t look over occupied and give the room a more minimalist feel which looks amazing all over the house.

With all their especially design choices locked in, their specs were sent off to our manufacturers who went about constructing their made to measure shutters and a short time later they arrived at our Battersea home. Slotted into our vans along with our band of merry in-house fitters who then carted off to the property to install them without a fuss and ready to be enjoyed to the fullest.
